Search engine results page (SERP)

Categories: S, SEO Glossary

Search Engine Results Page (SERP) refers to the display of various types of content returned by a search engine after a user has entered a query. This page can include a wide array of listings such as organic search results, paid advertisements, and other special features that provide quick information without the need to click through to a website. The SERP is organized by relevance, with the aim of presenting the most useful and pertinent information at the top. When someone mentions their site’s position in relation to SERPs, such as “page 3 of the SERPs,” they are indicating the location of their website on the results pages for a specific search term or phrase. The goal for most websites is to appear as high as possible on the first page of the SERP, as this is associated with higher visibility and increased likelihood of attracting visitors.
