Worth Knowing
When you run a local business, remember to post informative content on your website.
We created a blog with how-to articles for this customer, which improved the company's visibility. In turn, the recipients of this content started to perceive the salon as an expert in the industry, which translated into more bookings.

Which Industry Is the Client Operating In, and What Problem Did We Solve?

The client operates in the service industry in Sydney, Australia.
The client wanted their website to rank higher on Google and generate more inquiries for their service, hopefully leading to in-person visits to their salon.

Challenges

Service companies need to adapt their digital strategies to generate more inquiries. In this case, the challenges were the technological limitations of the website, low traffic, and few inquiries.
The website, built on the Squarespace platform, made it difficult to implement new solutions. At the same time, it failed to generate enough traffic so that the company would receive recognition. The number of service bookings via the website was also a problem.

Step-By-Step Actions

We started with an SEO audit, which showed the full picture of the situation and uncovered the reasons why the website was not achieving the expected traffic and conversion.
Then, we prepared a strategy in which we proposed implementing SEO activities, rebuilding the site structure, building a blog with video materials, and running Google Ads campaigns.
1
SEO Optimization
The first year was all about basic SEO activities. This included upgrading existing and creating new content, revamping meta descriptions, and improving internal linking.
2
UX Optimization
The website's structure, which allows users to move smoothly through the subpages and efficiently find the information they need, is vital for conversion. Good UX helps keep users on the site for longer and encourages them to interact with the content.
3
Blog Development
We have developed a blog with potential customers (website users) and search engines in mind. In the beauty industry, it is important to show the customer the effect they can expect. Our blog articles fulfilled this role, educating customers and showing the effects of the treatments offered by the salon.
4
Google Ads Campaigns
A clear increase in traffic does not always translate into conversions — even if a website delivers excellent UX. In SEO, it is not the traffic that is the most important. What counts is conversion and sales. To strengthen organic growth, we advised the client to run advertising campaigns on Google.

Our Results

Before the start of the campaign, the estimated number of monthly visits from organic search results was 1,990. Now it is almost 8,000!
Before we started working on the site (December 1, 2023), the website appeared in the top ten Google results for 297 keywords. Currently (as of September 19, 2024), the website appears on the first page of search results for 597 phrases. Almost 60% of sessions on the website are generated by organic results. The same is true for engaged sessions — most of them are generated thanks to traffic from search engines.

Summary

We adjusted the SEO strategy to the client’s market and niche — in this case, the beauty industry in Sydney. We focused on UX and content, which, combined with SEO, contributed to the visibility of the website.

Our strategies are always flexible. We plan, act, and check what can be improved in organic activities. Since the goal of SEO for a locally-based company is not website traffic, but salon visits, we suggested the client to invest in Ads campaigns. Advertising was an additional way to fill the appointment calendar more effectively.

We have been relying on NON.Agency for SEO since January 2024. From the very beginning, communication with the team was smooth, whether during phone calls or using Basecamp for project management. From January to April, the weekly number of active users remained stable at 400-450 and has almost tripled since then (August: we have around 1,180), which is fantastic for us.
Google Search Console clicks show about a 200% increase since the beginning of the project — mainly thanks to our blog articles created by NON. The next goal is to improve conversion thanks to increased traffic, but for now, we have achieved what we set out to do.
